That's because I have no interest in class warfare. There will always be the rich and there will always be the poor. Period!! What makes the United States great is the ability to move upward or downward in class based on drive and ability.

you missed another issue. Republicans seem to be about making the rich richer and doing this off the backs of the disappearing middle class. They are about two classes - keeping the ultra rich and keeping the poor ultra poor and making the middle class disappear altogether. Why is that? they scare me, as we are going backwards in time and not moving ahead anymore. I never thought I would see the day when I don't believe all the hate that is spewing from their mouths.

No, we can't lose sight of the pain of the American worker, but to what end? How much can we overlook?

The UAW's political contributions :$24 million given to Democrats versus $194 thousand given to Republicans since 2000?

The pay scale? Auto workers have a higher salary than teachers.

The horrible mismanagement of the company?

The total abandonment of contract law in bankruptcy? Secured debtors are supposed to get their money first.

What about the thousands of investors that lost everything?

No, I feel for the American worker but we need to encourage the companies and their workers that are not controlled by big government.

Depends on how you define bailout. Ford just got some gvt money. States have given $$$$$ to foreign automakers to build a plant in their state for decades.

Don't lose sight of or stop supporting the 1000's of men and women who actually build the products.

I don't think of Obama as a socialist. I think he's an idiot. If you and I tried to spend our way out of debt, we'd be locked up. Our creditors would come and confiscate everything we own. We'd be wearing orange jumpsuits and picking up garbage for the rest of our lives. Most of the things the money is being spent on are "social justice" programs - not anything that actually creates wealth or jobs that make money. Public sector jobs DO NOT COUNT because the public sector does not MAKE money - they TAKE money. Ask California where 60% of the jobs are public sector.

The problems, which President Bush did warn of and Barney Frank said were nonexistent (don't deny this - the video footage of him saying these things are on YouTube and you can find articles from around 2005 with quotes if you really want to - as well as footage of President Bush's warnings about the housing bubble - and wanting to institute some regulation - as well as John McCain. So, don't pull that excuse of "I (he) inherited these problems." That's total BS. Obama is President now and has the power of the VETO pen, which he failed to use when he signed that first "spending plan" with all of those earmarks - breaking a campaign promise before he was in office 100 days.

I have nothing against having safety nets in place so no American has to go hungry or without medical care - that's why we have food stamps and most states have some sort of Medicaid program. I also have no problem with providing for our elderly when they have no family or their family isn't able to care for them. However, if America goes broke, there will be no money for any of this. Getting us trillions of dollars into debt, before even trying the Republicans plan that wouldn't cost us a dime and would take effect immediately, is insanity.
